Learning disability · dyslexia · dysgraphiaYour child is bright and tries hard, but reading, writing or maths take far more effort than they should. A specific learning disability, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia, is a difference in how the brain handles written language and numbers. It is not laziness and it is not low intelligence. At Divya Place, occupational therapists and special educators work together to build the skills your child needs to learn with less struggle, at our Nagpur clinic or online.
Every child develops at their own pace, so one sign on its own is not a cause for worry. When several of these continue for months, and your child's marks don't match how clever they clearly are, it is worth getting an assessment.
Reading, spelling and maths are taught by special educators. Occupational therapy works on the skills underneath learning, the ones that make reading, writing and studying so tiring for children with a learning disability:
Because Divya Place has occupational therapy and special education under one roof, your child's therapy goals and learning goals are planned together instead of in separate places.
Our clinic is in Rahul Nagar, North Nagpur, open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm. It is also within easy reach for families from Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Amravati and other towns in Vidarbha.
If you live further away, in another Indian city or abroad, our online home programs let you work on focus, reading, writing and planning at home, with guidance from Dr. Megha on WhatsApp.
No. Children with a specific learning disability usually have average or above-average intelligence. Their brain simply processes written words, letters or numbers differently, so they need different teaching and support.
Dyslexia is a lifelong difference in how the brain works, not an illness to be cured. With the right support, though, children learn skills and strategies that make reading and writing much easier. How quickly things improve depends on your child's age, needs and regular practice.
Signs often become clear in Class 1 to 3, around ages 6 to 8. Earlier support is better, but it is never too late. We also work with older children and teenagers preparing for board exams.
Many children benefit from both, but not all. After the assessment we recommend only what your child actually needs, and explain why.
Children with a certified specific learning disability may be eligible for exam accommodations such as extra time or a writer, depending on the board's rules. We can guide you on how the process works.
Yes. Families outside Nagpur can join our online home programs, with activities done at home and guidance on WhatsApp in English, Hindi or Marathi.
